We run dedicated follow up clinics for brain injured patients, either following discharge from hospital or the emergency department. The patients are initially seen by a consultant and often have complex neurobehavioural and neurophysical needs requiring ongoing care and support.

We also initiate referrals to other neuro-specialist services and have a dedicated neuropsychologist  working within our team.

  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Hypoxic-Ischaemic brain injury

We currently run two clinics for this group of patients: a telephone clinic for mild TBI; and a multidisciplinary face to face clinic.

Our neuropsychologist can offer outpatient cognitive and behavioural feedback and rehabilitation, and support for emotional difficulties that occur after brain injury. Our neuropsychologist can help with management of co-existing mental health issues that commonly occur.

Most patients will be discharged back to primary care with a clear plan for ongoing local rehabilitation. A proportion of patients will be suitable for cognitive rehabilitation delivered by our neuro psychology team.
