I am a retired doctor, having worked as a General Practitioner and a psychiatrist. I have worked both in mainstream services, and also in projects with excluded and hard-to reach groups such as D/deaf people, homeless people, traveller families and asylum seekers.

My last post was as the Consultant Psychiatrist with the Mental Health and Deafness Service, based in Newcastle. I have also worked in Camden and Islington, Essex and Kent.

I was previously a trustee for the charity Deaflink, in Newcastle.

I retired from the NHS in 2018 on health grounds, as I have a diagnosis of narcolepsy, for which I receive excellent care at the Trust’s National Hospital. I recently moved back to Kent to be near my family. I took up one of the out-of-London patient seats on the Council of Governors in February 2021.

I believe passionately that NHS care should be fully accessible to all, and hope to use my experiences to highlight these issues in the Trust.
