We provide intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy cancer treatments. Our patients have very complex care needs and receive intensive chemotherapy, radiotherapy (including isotopes) complex toxicity and symptom management and end of life care. The Oncology MDT all work with one goal in mind which is to provide excellent clinical and nursing care delivered compassionately to patients that deserve the very best.

cn4.jpgI’m extremely lucky to have such a dedicated and hardworking nursing team. Good ward nursing is about team work and we have a great team ethos. In Oncology at UCLH you can expect to be encouraged to acquire new clinical skills and broaden your knowledge, we fully believe that our nurses should be experts in their field. Many aspects of the ward are nurse led and we believe that if you want a job done properly – get a nurse to do it! That’s why we take a leadership role in structuring consultant ward rounds, MDT’s and complex discharge planning and other issues of care.  Sarah - Ward Sister

What our staff say...

“I decided to apply for my first job as a newly qualified nurse on T14North because from my time there as a student it was clear the nurses were doing a great job at providing the care and emotional support for people when they truly need it most. I wanted to be part of such a team and work in an environment where nursing expertise as well as our natural compassion is equally valuable to the recovery of our patients”. Louie - Student Nurse

“For me it’s the connection you have with your patients and their families because we treat them over a long period of time. I feel we really make a difference in end of life care and symptom control especially“ Claire – Staff Nurse

“Watching people fight against all that cancer throws at them can be hard, and humbling. We build up meaningful relationships with our patients and when they return for treatment they are pleased to see familiar faces. It can be sad on occasions, but the team are very supportive. We have regular debriefs and time to talk about our emotions...My team on T14 are incredible. I can’t fault them.” Grace – NQN of the year, Band 5 Staff Nurse
