Sarah G.PNG"GWB 2 East is a 17 bed ward offering comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services primarily specialising in Leukaemia and other adult haematological conditions such as Lymphoma, Myeloma and Red cell disorders. The ward is a highly specialised nurse led unit, equipped to handle intensive treatments such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants, where patient's receive care from a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care. 

We are extremely lucky in haematology to have an associated charity, Haematology Cancer Care (HCC), who provide funding for nursing and MDT trainings and additional support services for our patient's. HCC fundraising is also a fun activity for staff, patients and families outside of the stress' of the hospital to take part in events such as bake sales and sporting activities."

Be reassured though that no matter the haematological diagnosis, our personable, passionate and professional nurse-led team have the skills and experience to support any patient throughout their inpatient stay, ensuring they get the best chance at a favourable outcome.

Patients can stay with us for chemotherapy, CAR-T cell therapy, bispecific antibodies or be supported through a sickle cell crisis and can rely on receiving a personalised and multidisciplinary approach to their care-and our nurses are proud to be there every step off the way; from administering complex IV medications, to holding a hand when it is needed the most.

Emily A.PNG"GWB 3N is a 17-bed acute haematology unit specialising in the care of patients undergoing high-intensity chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation. Our side rooms are equipped with positive pressure ventilation lobbies to minimise the risk of cross-contamination and enhance infection control measures.

The unit also includes a dedicated young adult section, designed to meet the unique needs of this age group. With specially trained staff and a range of amenities, including games and crafting activities, we strive to make the inpatient experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. 

Our multidisciplinary team is deeply committed to delivering compassionate, personalised care while promptly addressing any complications. We focus on providing complex treatments and essential supportive care, with nurses playing a crucial role in ensuring the emotional and physical well-being of our patients throughout their stay.
