If you have a media enquiry please email uclh.media@nhs.net and a member of the media team will respond.

It is crucial that journalists use the communications unit in the first instance as we are in the best position to find the information needed quickly or provide an authoritative source for a story.

The working hours for the communications unit are Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.

The only media enquiries that will be answered outside of these working hours are urgent matters and major incidents. To access the out-of hours service call the switchboard on 0845 155 5000 - (This is a premium rate number.  Please check your operator charges before dialing) or 020 3456 7890.

Filming and photography

We are a major teaching hospital trust and receive lots of requests for filming and photography on our premises.

We cannot accommodate all requests and reserve the right to decline if they conflict with the day-to-day running of our hospitals, our duty to respect patient and staff confidentiality or the long term interests of UCLH.

We may also decline requests which are made with limited notice.

Please note:

  • UCLH does not normally facilitate location requests or requests to film/photograph general shots of the hospital and/or ‘pieces to camera’ that do not directly relate to the work of UCLH. Where these requests are permitted there is normally a fee payable. Fees are negotiated on an individual basis, but for an idea of our normal minimum charges please contact the media team via email
  • It may be necessary to sign a filming contract in advance of specific projects
  • We do not normally allow filming or photography in our Emergency Department
  • We do not provide parking facilities for camera crews

During filming and photography

Film crews and photographers must be accompanied by a member of UCLH staff at all times.

Rigorous infection control procedures must be respected; for example, hand gel must be used on entering and leaving clinical areas.

No patients or staff may be filmed without obtaining signed consent.
