We know that coming to hospital can be a worrying time for many people. At University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we do our best to make sure your stay is as easy as possible, and to ensure you get the best care we can give. To help you prepare for your stay as an inpatient at UCLH we have put together the following information.

If you are admitted to UCLH for an overnight hospital stay, you may receive a welcome pack.  This will be given to you by the team looking after you when you arrive on the ward. The packs have been designed to improve your comfort and safety and contain ‘all you need to know’ information about your stay in hospital, like how to raise a concern, a ‘who’s who’ uniform guide for our nursing teams and visiting times.

We’ve listened to what patients have told us would make their stay that bit better – so have included some essential items, like earplugs to help minimise noise and an eye mask to help you rest, as we know not every visit to hospital is planned.  We hope you find the welcome pack useful – please tell us what you think at uclh.patientexperience@nhs.net.

Before your admission date

If you have a key worker, social worker or another professional who regularly helps you at home, please talk to them and the team at the hospital before your admission. This will help us to ensure we get you home as soon as you are well enough to leave hospital, and make sure all the necessary follow-up arrangements have been made.

If you’re supported by an unpaid carer, please see the information for carers.
