The Department of Neuropathology (designated as Division of Neuropathology within the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology) is one of the largest academic neuropathology departments in the UK.
We provide a high quality diagnostic service using state of the art diagnostic test methods for surgical neuropathology, neuromuscular diagnostics, epilepsy, molecular neuropathology of central nervous system (CNS) tumours, and neurodegenerative diseases.
The department also provides research infrastructure, drives implementation of diagnostic and research innovation and is a provider of tissue resources for basic and applied research. There is close alignment and high synergy between research themes in the neuropathology department and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology.
We are a UKAS accredited medical laboratory (no.8116).
We are part of the North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub, for which we provide the leading national molecular diagnostic service of adult CNS tumours.
Experimental and research services including image analysis are provided by UCL IQPath.
For further details including referral forms and user guides and accreditation status of tests offered, please see the UCL Neuropathology site and the UKAS pages here.
