The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at UCLH welcomes international and UK students, medical students and doctors interested in general and acute medicine to join our electives and observerships programme.

Electives typically last up to 2 weeks, but can be longer on discussion. Applicants must obtain ID and occupational health clearance prior to starting their placement (please allow up to 8 weeks for clearance and note that you may be required to attend in person for this).

The programme offers a mix of inpatient experiences across acute medicine, enhanced care and emergency care.

Placement structure:

  • Students: 9:00am – 2:00pm | Shadowing daily activity on the acute medical unit
  • Visiting doctors: 9:00am – 4:00pm | Shadowing daily activity on the acute medical unit and emergency admissions pathway

Dr Christian Hasford, Raj Rawal and Juliet Davarci coordinate the programme. Register your interest using the form below, including your CV and a short paragraph outlining any medical experience and your reasons for applying.
