We offer a range of psychological therapies including:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Autogenic Training (AT)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
More information about each therapy can be found in the leaflets that we have for each therapy and under the headings of each therapy, available on our website.
Therapies are offered either on an individual or group basis and can be either face-to-face, on the telephone or on video call.
The number of sessions can vary depending on your difficulties and the type of therapy that you are offered. Group therapies tend to run for a period of 8 weeks and individual sessions vary between 8 to 12 sessions.
Our team works with people who are under the care of the RLHIM and have one or more of the following conditions:
- Myalgic encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS)
- Fibromyalgia Syndrome
- Chronic pain-related conditions
- Chronic women’s health-related conditions
You will be offered an initial appointment for an assessment with one of our clinicians.
This appointment will last for up to an hour.
The aim of the assessment is to find out more about your difficulties and discuss whether and what type of therapy could be helpful. During this appointment, we may also ask you to complete some brief questionnaires.
What happens after my initial appointment?
If you are accepted for therapy, you will be contacted by one of our administrators to schedule either your group or individual therapy sessions.
Because we receive a large number of referrals, it is possible that you may have to wait before your therapy starts.
What if I cannot attend my initial appointment?
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know at least 48 hours beforehand so that we can reschedule and offer your appointment to someone else. If you do not attend your appointment without telling us, we may refer you back to your GP.
If your appointment is more than 24 hours away, please change or cancel it by using the online form below or calling us on 020 3456 7890.
If your appointment is within the next 24 hrs please call us on 020 3456 7890.
If you have any non-urgent queries regarding your appointment or our services, please email us at uclh.
The RLHIM is a teaching hospital and from time-to-time other healthcare professionals may observe as part of a training course. We will always ask your permission for other professionals to sit in during your session.
