Passionate about improving the quality of people’s lives, I feel privileged to be elected a Patient Governor of UCLH Trust when the importance and challenges of delivering quality healthcare and supporting staff well-being have never been greater. A UCLH patient for over 50 years, with experience of different specialities, I appreciate the treatment I have received and recognise the complex issues faced by the Trust. I am particularly interested in innovation in delivery of integrated health and social care, improving access to services, and enhancing patient experience.

I have lived locally since 1965 and completed my undergraduate degree and PhD in Psychology at UCL. At LSE, as well as teaching, I undertook leadership, pastoral and administrative roles. My research focused on policing, crime and community safety, and ‘real life’ issues such as sexual harassment, adherence with TB treatment, and perceptions of disability and aging. In 2014, I was awarded an M.B.E. for Services to Higher Education.

Currently I am a lay examiner for the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, member of the Bar Standards Board Advisory Pool of Experts, and Chair of my estate Tenants and Residents Association. I look forward to working with fellow Governors and stakeholders to enhance the Trust’s planning and delivery of healthcare services.
