Professional background

Nav Johal is honorary consultant paediatric urologist at University College London Hospital (UCLH) and is clinical lead of the service. He is based primarily as a full time consultant paediatric urologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and honorary associate professor at University College London (UCL) Mr. Johal is at UCLH on Wednesday delivering an outpatient clinic and operating session on alternate weeks. Additionally he is a member of the renal prenatal counselling team in the fetal medicine unit at UCLH.

He graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine and completed his Paediatric Surgical training in the South of England paediatric surgical rotation rotating through Cambridge, London and Southampton before completing a Paediatric Urology Fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital and a bladder reconstructive fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Fulham Road.

He is actively involved in research and has been awarded a PhD from UCL on congenital bladder anomalies. He has previously been awarded a surgical research fellowship and more recently a pump priming award from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has published over 50 peer reviewed articles.
