Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves today visited UCLH to see a keyhole surgery demonstration and to meet staff at UCLH.
At the UCLH Education Centre the Chancellor watched an endoscopic (keyhole) surgery demonstration by Arvind Vashisht, consultant gynaecologist at UCLH.
Arvind said:
“We are lucky at UCLH to have great training facilities - it is wonderful for doctors to be able to utilise simulation techniques to hone their skills outside of theatres so that by the time they operate in a real-life situation they are much more familiar and proficient in their surgery.”
The Chancellor also met a group of clinical staff from different teams at UCLH.
Tim Jaggard, Deputy Chief Executive at UCLH said:
“We were delighted to introduce the Chancellor to our wonderful staff and show some of our teaching facilities that help us develop our teams to deliver world class care.”
