Whether to check appointment details, receive test results and clinic letters, or to complete pre-visit questions and checks to prepare for appointments, more and more patients activate MyCare UCLH each day.
Dr Santino Capocci, consultant in respiratory medicine, said: “I’m a great fan of MyCare and encourage my patients to use it. MyCare gives patients reassurance that they can see their results, letters and appointments quickly and in one place, without having to wait for the post or look for paper letters.”
Patients receive appointment reminders directly on their phone, tablet, or computer and can check all their appointment details at any time. Patients also use MyCare to save time and help prepare for upcoming appointments. For example, to provide information through a health questionnaire before a clinic, or to request for allergies, medication and health issues to be updated. Clinicians check the information provided at the next appointment, before adding it to the patient’s record.
Dr Nicky Longley, consultant in travel medicine said: “MyCare reduces the time it takes to do the administrative part of the consultation and allows me to actually speak to the patient. It enables me to review patients fully before seeing them in clinic and helps with appropriate triage and decision-making. In addition, it enables patients to properly think about the problems before their appointment.”
UCLH patient feedback: “I can’t believe how much better this is! I can complete questions in my own time at home, much faster, and I don’t need to find printers, scanners, paper and pens.”
After discussion and agreement with a clinician, patients can use MyCare Health Trackers to record health measurements from home. Patients can also link their health measurements from the Apple Health or Google Fit apps on their phones to MyCare. If a measurement is supported, the data will be added directly from these fitness apps to MyCare so clinicians can track health measurements such as weight, step count, blood pressure and pulse rate.
There are two types of test results: the ones that are delivered automatically to MyCare after a set time and the ones that are delivered to MyCare after they have been seen by a clinician.

Dr Marc George, consultant and clinical lead for the blood pressure clinic, said: “We organise investigations ahead of a patient's first appointment. Because of the automated release of results, patients have often seen their results and come to the clinic prepared with informed questions. This means we can be as efficient as possible and reduces the need for further follow-up appointments.”
UCLH patient feedback: “Receiving most results automatically has been a real game changer for me when it comes to better self-management. I have a wide range of medications and treatments for my illnesses to keep on top of, and the ability to see my results in a snapshot in MyCare has been a positive eye-opening experience. I don’t feel the need to contact my team as much as I used to when I had to chase up my results, which could take months at a time. I am very grateful for this type of access to my care.”
