Professional background

Dr Dalbir Sohi is a consultant paediatrician and specialist in child allergy who has been based in London for the last 20 years. She is renowned for her expertise in allergies, including food allergies, eczema, asthma, hay fever, reflux and colic and is currently the clinical lead for the children and adolescent allergy service at University College London Hospital.

After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in immunology and medical microbiology from Imperial College School of Medicine, Dr Sohi completed her medical degree at the University of Glasgow, qualifying in 1998. She then attained membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and went on to complete a Master’s in clinical paediatrics at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. Dr Sohi was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2012 and is currently appointed as a consultant general paediatrician as well as the lead for paediatric allergy at University College London Hospitals. She has also been an honorary consultant in paediatric allergy and clinical immunology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and North Middlesex University hospital NHS Trust for a number of years. She sees patients in private practice at Chase Lodge Hospital and HCA Wellington Diagnostic Centre in Golders Green in London.

Additional to her clinical responsibilities, Dr Sohi is a renowned educator and is an appointed fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators. She is an examiner for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, and additionally is an esteemed assessor, instructor and medical director for the Advanced Paediatric Life Support Group. She is also an accredited educational and clinical supervisor for medical students and paediatric trainees for Health Education England and has published a number of academic articles which appear in peer reviewed journals. She was a board member of the Department of Health and RCPCH Allergy National Clinical Pathways development initiative.

Throughout her esteemed career, Dr Sohi has held a number of senior leadership positions and was clinical director for paediatrics and neonates and lead for the paediatric allergy and clinical immunology service at The North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust for over ten years. She continues to be a board and group member of various paediatric services which aim to improve care for children and young people. She is also a member of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the London Paediatric Allergy Group.
