Professional background
Dr Giles Kendall is a consultant in neonatal medicine working within the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing at UCLH. He studied medicine at University College London graduating in 1997. He has an interest in fetal and neonatal neurology, neuroprotection and neuroimaging.
Giles completed a PhD at University College London in the Institute for Women’s Health examining the role of inflammation, hypoxia-ischemia, pH and the TNF family of cytokines in the development of perinatal brain injury. He went on to become academic clinical lecturer in neonatal neuroimaging and neuroprotection at UCLH undertaking research into MR biomarkers of preterm brain injury under the supervision of Professor Nikki Robertson.
He is joint Lead for North Central and East London sector of the London Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.
