Professional background

Dr Davagnanam was fellowship trained on the Pan-London Neuroradiology fellowship between 2006-2008. He has been a consultant neuroradiologist at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery and Moorfields Eye Hospital since 2008.

His clinical expertise involves providing opinions in diagnostic imaging and performing specialist diagnostic procedures for neurological, neuro-vascular, spinal neuro-ophthalmological and orbital conditions. He has a particular interest in stroke, CSF disorders, headache, disease of the spine and ophthalmic disorders.

He has written chapters on his areas of specialist interest in five medical reference textbooks and contributed to Royal College guidelines. He is a council member of the Clinical Neurosciences Section of the Royal Society of Medicine, as well as a member of the British Society of Neuroradiologists, Royal College of Radiologists, International Society for Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Medicine and UK Neuro-Ophthalmology Specialist Interest Group.

He has published over 70 articles in scientific peer-reviewed journals, including original articles in high impact clinical neurosciences journals, and has been invited nationally and internationally to lecture on specialised areas of neuroimaging.

He is a committee member, lecturer and examiner on the Advanced Neuroimaging MSc Programme at the Institute of Neurology, University College London.

Research interests

As an honorary senior lecturer with the UCL Institute of Neurology, he currently leads on research projects with an emphasis on the development and application of quantitative advanced and novel imaging techniques to develop disease specific biomarkers.
