Professional background

Dr Manni Waraich is a consultant in neurocritical care & neuroanaesthesia at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queen Square London. She was previously a substantive consultant at Southampton University Hospital working in the Wessex neurosciences ICU & neuroanaesthetic department. She qualified from Kings College London and completed anaesthetic and intensive care training at St George's London and Kent, Surrey & Sussex Deaneries. She completed her neuro fellowship at NHNN Queen Square and neuro ICU training between St George's and the Royal Sussex County, Brighton. She also has an MBA from Warwick Business School. She was co-director for a small mergers and acquistions firm in Sydney Australia for eight years whilst she was raising her children.

Outside of neuroanaesthesia and neurocritical care, she sits on the Women in Intensive Care Medicine committee at the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. She has led on national projects for FICM and has recently launced an emerging leadership programme for female consultant intensivists. She has an interest in point of care ultrasound and am on the faculty for the new FUSIC accreditation created by the Intensive Care Society. She is the lead for the neuro POCUS module.
