Professional background

I am a consultant in neurocritical care & neuroanaesthesia at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queen Square London. I was previously a substantive consultant at Southampton University Hospital working in the Wessex neurosciences ICU & neuroanaesthetic department. I qualified from Kings College London and completed my anaesthetic and intensive care training at St George's London and Kent, Surrey & Sussex Deaneries. I did my neuro fellowship at NHNN Queen Square and neuro ICU training between St George's and the Royal Sussex County, Brighton. I also have an MBA from Warwick Business School. I was co-director for a small mergers and acquistions firm in Sydney Australia for eight years whilst I was raising my children.

Outside of neuroanaesthesia and neurocritical care, I sit on the Women in Intensive Care Medicine committee at the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine. I have led on national projects for FICM and have recently launced an emerging leadership programme for female consultant intensivists. I have an interest in point of care ultrasound and am on the faculty for the new FUSIC accreditation created by the Intensive Care Society. I am the lead for the neuro POCUS module.
