Professional background

I am a Psychiatrist specialising in Behavioural Sleep Medicine. I studied medicine at the University of Oxford, and went on to train in Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, where I became interested in the role played by sleep and circadian disturbances in mental disorders. I completed a PhD, funded by at MRC clinical research training fellowship, at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King's College London, using mobile and wearable technologies to investigate the interaction between sleep disturbances and relapse in psychosis.

Research interests

  • Sleep timing (circadian rhythm sleep-wake) disorders.
  • Sleep and circadian problems in mental illness.
  • Sleep in people living with psychosis.
  • Use of digital technologies, including mobile and wearable devices, for studying sleep-wake cycles.
