Professional background

Fatimah is consultant and honorary clinical senior lecturer in special care dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital. She graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2001. She obtained Membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh (2004), Masters in Special Needs Dentistry Eastman Dental Institute 2009, Membership in Special Care Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh 2009, and fellowship of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh 2016.

Fatimah has worked in a range of fields including hospital and community dental services, prior to being appointed as a consultant at Eastman Dental Hospital, UCLH. Her present role includes the treatment of medically compromised adults, adults with anxiety and or learning disability. In addition to being actively involved in clinical teaching, she is currently an examiner for MFDS, DSCD, MSCD Tricol examinations.

Research interests

Fatimah’s clinical, teaching and research interests center around:

  • Provision of dental treatment under sedation / general anaesthesia in special care dentistry
  • Dental management of medically compromised patients
  • Dental education
