Professional background

Mr Sirwan Hadad is a consultant oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeon at UCLH, with expertise in the management of breast cancer and all aspects of breast diseases, including infection, benign conditions and risk reduction. He has years’ experience in breast surgical operations including simple, skin-reducing, skin and nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate implant-based reconstruction; level 1 and 2 oncoplastic breast procedures; reduction mammoplasty; mastopexy; liposuction and lipomodelling; partial breast reconstruction with chest wall perforator flap; immediate and delayed LD flap, and revisional breast surgery.

Mr Hadad completed his PhD in breast cancer molecular oncology at the University of Dundee, with the Baxter Prize award for best clinical research in 2011. He was then awarded the NIHR Clinical Lecturer Fellowship at the University of Sheffield, during which he completed his Higher Surgical Training including an oncoplastic fellowship position at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, and successfully supervised two PhD students. This led to the award of his certificate of completion of training in general surgery with a specialty interest in breast surgery.

Now Mr Hadad works with the MDT Lead Clinicians, Directorate Management team, the Trust Cancer Executive, Regional Cancer Alliance and Academic Partners to deliver timely, safe, effective, and efficient breast cancer services at UCLH, with a focus on research and teaching.
