Professional background

Parminder Virdee is a consultant in restorative dentistry and periodontology in the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals and is a registered specialist in periodontology, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. She is involved in direct patient care and clinical teaching of specialist trainees, and also teaches on courses in periodontology for dentists in general dental practice.

She qualified from Liverpool University Dental Hospital in 2001, following which she underwent a broad base of training in a range of dental specialties in the hospital environment to include restorative dentistry, paediatric dentistry, dental emergencies, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, sedation, medically compromised patients, and oral medicine.

She then underwent experience and training in general dental practice, followed by further training posts in restorative dentistry in Sheffield and Morriston. She undertook five-year specialist registrar training at the Eastman Dental Hospital, and during this time also completed additional training in sedation, and a masters in Conservative Dentistry. On obtaining her Certificate of Completion in Specialist Training in 2012, she worked as a consultant in restorative dentistry in Birmingham Dental Hospital, and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire where she managed patients with varied restorative dental needs requiring multidisciplinary care.

She has been involved in teaching dentists and dental nurses at various levels of training, carrying out assessments, has been an examiner for the International Qualifying Examination, and has been involved in a number of committees through out her career.
