Postgraduate medical education centre 

Led by the Director of Postgraduate Medical Education, our responsibility is to fulfill the requirements of the educational contract between the Trust and the London Deanery/North Central London Strategic Health Authority, and by ensuring that doctors are educated, trained and motivated to play their part in a first class, modern health service, we aim to improve the quality of patient care. We are responsible for:

  • Foundation Training Programme
  • Core Medical Training Programme
  • Provision of in-house training courses
  • Information on external training courses
  • Administration of the Study Leave budget for doctors in training posts
  • Induction for doctors in training
  • Pastoral care to doctors in training
  • Training and assistants for educational supervisors

An addition full time librarian is responsible for the library and information service needs of the medical staff.

We are responsible for postgraduate medical and dental education (PGMDE) to doctors in training posts at University College Hospital, The Heart Hospital, and the Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Postgraduate Library Services

The Postgraduate Medical Education Centre provides a library & information service to the doctors in training and other medical staff based at UCH, Elizabeth Garrett Anderson (EGA), Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) and The Heart Hospital in support of patient care, education, research and continuing professional development.
