Cardiac services

Cardiac services will be provided by a new service at the Barts Heart Centre.

This is part of our plan to improve our patient care by combining the best of the cardiac services at the Heart Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital into one centre.

The dedicated centre concentrates specialist services in larger numbers which improves outcomes and reduces complications – this can save even more lives a year by providing patients with world-class care at every stage - from prevention and diagnosis, through to treatment and rehabilitation.

The cardiology services provided from the University College Hospital building will continue and the following services provided:

  • Outpatient clinics including: General Cardiology, Heart Failure, Rapid Access Chest Pain and GUCH Maternity
  • A GUCH outreach clinic from September
  • A full complement of non-invasive diagnostic services including:, ECGs, ambulatory blood pressure clinic, 24 hour Holter exercise and exercise tolerance tests.
  • Haemoglobinopathy Cardiac Care Clinic
  • Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation

The cardiology support provided to the other UCLH Trust sites will be enhanced with increased diagnostic support and more cardiology ward rounds.
