  • Camden MSK /InHealth Imaging

A review of InHealth imaging services has shown that the current provision of direct GP access to InHealth does not fit clinically with Camden MSK’s Single Point of Access (SPOA) process.

The SPOA manages patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions using specialist clinical triage to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate imaging, clinical management and treatment. UCLH, InHealth, Camden CCG and Camden MSK GP lead have therefore made a joint decision to remove direct GP referrals to InHealth for all musculoskeletal scans, except DEXA from 1st October 2018.

All musculoskeletal patients should be referred to the Camden MSK Single Point of Access, including those that would have ordinarily been sent to InHealth directly for imaging. These referrals will be triaged by an Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist and directed to the most appropriate clinical service. If you feel that your patient needs a more urgent X-ray you can still refer to hospital services directly as this decision only relates to InHealth imaging requests.

Please note that you will be able to directly order NON-MSK Images direct from InHealth as usual. This includes:

    • MRI brain
    • Pelvic USS, thyroid USS, scrotal USS, abdominal USS
    • Doppler USS for peripheral vascular disease
    • Echocardiogram, 24 hour ECG

We envisage that this revised process will save you time in your clinical practise and improve patient management.
