Support groups 

Due to social distancing restrictions we now have a range of online support groups. Please see below for more information including when the groups are held and how to join a group.

Macmillan Cancer Support have an online community where you can get support from other people affected by cancer.

There may be other online support available through cancer charities. Call our support and information specialists on 020 3447 3816 to find out what’s available for you.

  • Cancer Support Group

    The Cancer Support Group provides an opportunity to meet other adults affected by cancer online. You can chat, share information and support each other. Everyone is welcome including patients, their family, friends and carers. Each session includes time for conversation, sharing experiences or just listening. The group is facilitated by two support and information specialists.

    When?

    The group meets online on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 12.30 to 2pm.

    Where?

    During the COVID-19 pandemic all our support groups are online. To book your place, or for more information, email our team on uclh.supportandinformation@nhs.net.   • Haematology Support Group

    The Haematology Support Group provides an opportunity for adults affected by a blood cancer or blood condition to meet online to share information, ask questions of specialist staff and support each other. Everyone is welcome, including patients, family members, friends and carers. The group is facilitated by a haematology counsellor, a volunteer and a support and information specialist.

    When?

    The group meets online on the second Wednesday of each month from 5.30 to 7.30pm.

  • Penile and Urethral Support Group

    The Penile and Urethral Support Group is a monthly online support group for people affected by penile or urethral cancer, including family members, carers and friends. It provides a safe space to talk to others, share experiences or simply listen. The group is facilitated by a support and information specialist and a clinical nurse specialist.

    When?

    The group meets online on the first Tuesday of each month from 12pm to 1.30pm

    The Bladder Cancer Support Group is a monthly online support group for people affected by bladder cancer, including their family members, carers and friends. It provides a safe space to talk to others, share experiences or simply listen. The group is facilitated by a support and information specialist and a clinical nurse specialist.

    The group meets online on the third Thursday of each month from 12pm to 1.30pm.

  • Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

    The Head and Neck Cancer Support Group is an online support group for anyone affected by a head and neck cancer, including patient and their family members, carers and friends. It provides an opportunity to meet healthcare professionals and other patients to talk, share experiences, ask questions or offer advice. The group is facilitated by a support and information specialist and a clinical nurse specialist.

    When?

    The group meets online on the third Tuesday of each month from 4.30pm - 6pm.
