At a time of rapid change and exceptional opportunity, we are seeking to appoint our next Chair, following the conclusion of Baroness Julia Neuberger’s term in autumn 2026.
Recognised as one of the NHS’s largest, highest-performing and most innovative trusts, UCLH serves a richly diverse population across London and delivers highly specialised care to patients nationwide. Operating across seven central London sites, UCLH provides outstanding acute and specialist services, leading the diagnosis and treatment of some of the most complex conditions. The Trust holds a world-leading reputation in neurosciences, a rapidly growing international profile in cancer care and research, including Europe’s largest blood cancer service, and is among the most successful providers of women’s healthcare in the UK.
At the helm of a strong, cohesive Board of Non-Executive Directors and the Council of Governors, UCLH’s next Chair will build on the Trust’s current standing as one of the UK’s most prominent and ambitious academic health institutions. Looking ahead, they will play a pivotal role in ensuring UCLH continues to challenge the status quo and stays ahead of the accelerating pace of change across the global health system.
This will include championing innovation, from AI and advanced technologies to new models of care, unlocking commercial opportunities and partnerships and strengthening UCLH’s position at the cornerstone of the Euston Road life sciences innovation campus. In this fast-moving and complex environment, the new Chair will inspire and nurture the Trust’s leadership to set bold, future-focused strategies, fully harnessing UCLH’s exceptional resources, talent and expertise. The ambition is clear: to further establish UCLH as a beacon of excellence, nationally and internationally, in clinical care, research and innovation, and education.
UCLH’s next Chair will bring a strong track record of board-level leadership in successful, complex organisations, alongside the empathy, creativity and ambition needed to build trusted relationships with colleagues, patients, partners and stakeholders across and beyond the organisation.
