Term: 01/09/25 to 31/08/28
I’m a recently retired solicitor, having spent three decades working in the social housing sector – principally on projects to build much needed new affordable housing in and around London. I was born in America, brought up near Oxford and moved to London in the 1990s. I now live with my husband in Hackney.
As well as being a governor, I contribute to UCLH as a member of the ‘Patient Partner’ group and have been helping with the development of the MyCare App.
I’ve been a patient at UCLH for almost 20 years. Over the decades, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the exceptional care and dedication of the staff at this world-renowned institution. It’s a hospital that I’m proud of. But, as with all aspects of the NHS, UCLH faces a challenging financial outlook. It continually needs to look for efficiencies (including the harnessing of AI) to keep pace with demand within the resources available. In doing so, it needs to ensure that patient voices are front and centre.
As a governor:
- I’ll actively listen to patient experiences, concerns, and suggestions, ensuring they’re effectively communicated at Board and considered in the Trust's strategic planning.
- I’ll scrutinise performance and contribute to oversight of the hospital’s work, ensuring UCLH continues to uphold its core value of "Safety” for patients.
- I recognise that a thriving workforce is the backbone of excellent patient care. I’ll advocate for initiatives supporting staff wellbeing, development, and a culture that embodies "Kindness" and "Teamwork."
