Your referral will be sent to one of our clinicians for review. You will be placed on the waiting list and offered an appointment when the request has been accepted.

If our clinicians are unable to see you at UCLH for any reason, we will contact your referring clinician to let them know the referral has been rejected.

If you haven’t heard from us and would like an update, please allow 4 weeks before contacting us. Our Booking teams can be contacted via telephone on 020 3447 9393  or email uclh.appointments@nhs.net (ensure to provide your full name, date of birth, and booking reference number so we can find you easily on our systems). Mondays and Tuesdays are their busiest days, so it’s possible you’d be put on hold or have to wait longer for a reply if you contact them then.

Some of our patients are waiting longer for their appointment than we would like. We are working our way through our waiting lists as quickly and safely as possible, whilst prioritising patients according to their clinical needs.

For an overview of the average waiting time for a first outpatient appointment and average waiting time for treatment, please visit https://www.myplannedcare.nhs.uk/london/college-london/.

The waiting time to receive an appointment for each service varies considerably.

Some services use 6-week scheduling to manage their appointments. Appointments will only be scheduled 6 weeks in advance of their due date. You can find out more on our 6-week scheduling page.

We will send you an appointment letter confirming your appointment.

If your referral is accepted, please sign up for MyCare UCLH, our patient app and online service. You can use MyCare UCLH on your mobile (through the MyChart app) or computer (in your browser) to securely view and manage information about your health and care at UCLH, including viewing all your appointments.

Information alert

Occasionally, UCLH may need to cancel or reschedule appointments, sometimes at short notice. If this happens, we will contact you directly.

If you receive a notification that your appointment has been cancelled or changed, please do not attend the hospital, as you will not be seen. A new appointment will be arranged for you as soon as possible.
