We are doing everything we can to ensure any patients identified with measles are isolated as quickly as possible to prevent the spread to others.

Measles is a highly infectious viral illness and can be serious. Anyone with symptoms is advised to stay at home and phone their GP or NHS 111 for advice, rather than visiting the surgery or A&E, to prevent the illness spreading further.

Symptoms to look out for:

  • Fever
  • Rash – sometimes starting behind the ears
  • Sore, red eyes
  • Cough
  • Runny nose

Measles is spreading because of low vaccination rates. Please make sure that you and any children you are responsible for have been vaccinated. It is never too late to catch up. The MMR vaccine is available on the NHS, if you are eligible.

MMR vaccine is available at UCLH, please talk to your nurse or doctor.
