The trio met a group of nurses, midwives, doctors and allied health professionals (AHPs) for an informal conversation and selfies over a cup tea.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer told our staff: “I want to say thank you to you all for meeting with us – you don’t know how uplifting it is to see you all here today. Please pass this on to your teams, and other colleagues too, because they need to know personally that we appreciate you all. You make the NHS the precious thing that it is.”

UCLH chief executive David Probert said: "We were delighted to welcome the Prime Minister, Chancellor, and Secretary of State to UCLH so they could meet some of the amazing staff who provide top quality care to our patients every day.

“We have an exceptionally committed team here, and their enthusiasm and dedication to patients and the NHS really shone through.”

The visit was held in the University College Hospital Grafton Way Building which is home to one of only two proton beam therapy centres in the UK and is one of the largest centres for the treatment of blood disorders in Europe. The building houses a full imaging service, a hyper-modern surgery service and critical care unit.
