Professional background

Dr. Roser Vega is a consultant gastroenterologist and interventional colonoscopist at University College Hospital (UCH), London. She is an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist and deputy director of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for the North Central London Region.

At UCH, she leads the interventional colonoscopy service providing advanced diagnosis and endoscopic treatment for colonic polyps and early colon cancers. She also delivers specialist care to a large cohort of patient with complex inflammatory bowel disease and provides her expertise in inflammatory bowel disease related colonic neoplasia.

She is actively involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching as well as colonoscopy training. She regularly presents in national and international meetings and has actively participated in live endoscopy courses teaching about all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy.

Research interests

  • Innovation in endoscopy and colonoscopy
  • Endoscopic treatment of early colonic cancers and evolutionary biomarkers in ulcerative colitis
  • Dysplasia as well as pathophysiology in inflammatory bowel disease and in particular the understanding of the pathogenic role of CMV in steroid-resistant patients and the improvement of their outcome after antiviral treatment.
