Professional background

Miss Neera Balachandren is a consultant gynaecologist and accredited subspecialist in reproductive medicine and surgery. She studied at University College London and completed her specialty and subspecialty training in London. 

Her clinical practice focuses on reproductive medicine, with specialist interests in fertility preservation, infertility, reproductive surgery, endometriosis and menopause. She has particular expertise in the care of patients requiring fertility preservation prior to gonadotoxic therapy and has been appointed Deputy Lead for the NHS England Ovarian Tissue Cryopreservation Programme for the South of England. 

Miss Balachandren has active research interests and has undertaken several research studies in fertility preservation and low ovarian reserve. This work forms part of her MD thesis and has been published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.

She is also actively involved in education, supervising undergraduate students, and has been appointed undergraduate lead for Women’s Health at UCLH.
