Professional background

Johan Witt is a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon specialising in hip and pelvic surgery.

Since 1995 he has been a consultant at University College Hospitals, London. Prior to that he trained mainly in London, and gained specialist training in Boston, USA (1989), Sydney, Australia (1993) and Bern, Switzerland (1994).

He has developed a specialised practice in hip and pelvic surgery involving all aspects of joint replacement surgery, including resurfacing, as well as procedures to preserve the hip joint and delay the onset of arthritis.

He has a specific interest in young athletic patients with hip problems encompassing developmental abnormalities requiring osteotomies around the hip and arthroscopic procedures to deal with sports related injuries. He has considerable experience in primary and revision hip replacement in young patients built up on a practice of looking after children and adolescents with inflammatory arthritis within a specialist unit.
