Since November 2023, UCLH’s General Urology GP referrals have been redirected to the Whittington Health NHS Trust.
This re-direction is no longer in place and UCLH General urology is now reopen to GP referrals. Should you wish to refer to LUTS or benign prostate services at UCLH, you can do so via the e-referrals service.
Referrals are accepted for the following conditions:
Male LUTS
• LUTS in men
• Prostatitis
• Recurrent UTIs in men
• Visible haematuria in patients under 45
Female LUTS
• LUTS in women (with a history of post-bladder surgery, radiotherapy or complex pelvic surgery)
• Recurrent UTIs in women
• Visible haematuria in patients under 45
Please be aware that General Urology at UCLH is a small service and there is currently a significant waiting time for an appointment.
The current waiting for a routine referral is approximately 9-12 months.
Please consider this and make your patient aware of the approximate waiting time before referring.
Please follow the NCL primary care pathway for referrals, available at https://
Please note, referrals will not be accepted if the primary care pathway for the condition has not been followed.
Please enclose evidence of the interventions trialled and reason for referral when submitting a referral to UCLH.
Should you have any queries about management of a patient’s symptoms, please complete an advice and guidance request to general urology, which can then be converted to a referral, if appropriate.
Should a referral be required to another provider, the triaging clinician will arrange a re-direction or write back to the GP with appropriate advice regarding the triage decision and any further action required.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact uclh.
