• Prescriptions and health costs

  All medications given to you while you are an inpatient are provided free of charge. At follow-up appointments, you may be given a prescription by your doctor or nurse. This must be collected from the hospital pharmacy; you cannot take it to your local chemist. There is a standard prescription charge per item which you can pay for by cash or card.

  We have been informed that there has been an increasing number of fractures in the battery securing parts of this pump. During the insulin pump use, if the device is dropped or excessive force is applied, some of the device's battery securing parts may break.

  The Intestinal Failure (IF) Service at UCH is a multidisciplinary service managing the complex needs of patients with gastrointestinal fistulas. The team includes consultant surgeons, anaesthetists, radiologists and nutritional gastroenterologists, as well as specialist nurses with expertise in this area. At UCH we aim to assess patients referred to us quickly and plan every aspect of their care effectively.
